The 32nd annual Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star contest is planned July 19 in Oshkosh.

The South squad has the talent and horses to continue its winning ways in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star game, a contest it’s won five of the past six seasons.

The 32nd annual tussle is scheduled at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 19, in Oshkosh.

The team features 22 athletes who earned WFCA all-state laurels, including Kyle Mabry of Greendale and Lucas Davis of Evansville, who were two-way performers. Mabry made it at wide receiver and defensive back, while Davis was named as a tight end and defensive end.

Other offensive all-staters include wide receiver Tyler Hujik of Kenosha Tremper; quarterback Mike Hennessy of Greendale; running backs Bradie Ewing of Richland Center, Lenier Johnson of Milwaukee Bay View, Charles Weissman of Hartford and Chris Echols of Wisconsin Lutheran; tight end Jonathon Johnson of Milwaukee Bradley Tech; and linemen Logan Allemand of Kenosha Tremper, Luke Robbe of Hartford, Harold Lloyd of Janesville Parker, Ryan Schwenn of Monona Grove and Brent Aaron of Sussex Hamilton.

All-staters on defense include end Matt Withrow of Platteville; interior linemen Alex Anderson of Waunakee and Nate Gross of Arrowhead; linebackers Max Meckstroth of Homestead, Cory Pinkner of Arrowhead and Damon Campbell of Wisconsin Lutheran; and secondary players Jim Root of New Berlin Eisenhower and Jared Konsella of Deforest.

Ewing and linebacker Tyrell Rosemeyer of Fennimore are preferred walk-ons at the University of Wisconsin, while Tremper wide receiver-defensive back Shane Covington will play at Indiana.

Meanwhile, several players are slated to compete at the NCAA Division I-AA level: Hujik at Dayton, center J.J. Manowske of St. Mary’s Springs at North Dakota State, offensive lineman Mike Seefeld of Cudahy at Illinois State, wide receiver Lars Knudsen of Whitefish Bay at Yale and defensive end David Witkiewicz of Whitnall at Drake.

Leading this star-studded bunch is head coach Jim Meckstroth of Cuba City, who’s led his program to nine playoff appearances during his 30 years, compiling an 8-9 record in Divisions 4-6. Cuba City has reached the postseason four of the past five seasons.
