Madison East reclaimed the top spot in Division 1 girls swimming, while Kohler grabbed the No. 1 position in D-3 boys soccer.

Girls swimming

Teams continued to jockey back and forth in both divisions in the weekly Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association girls polls.

The rankings are generated based on the organization’s top 30 individuals, who are scored on their top best scoring events only.

In Division 1, Madison East regained the No. 1 position from Big Eight Conference rival Madison Memorial, which slipped to third behind Hartland Arrowhead. Waukesha South/Mukwonago and Middleton stayed at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.

The biggest mover was Muskego, which leaped nine spots to sixth, while Mequon Homestead jumped up seven positions to seventh.

In D-2 action, Shorewood jumped from third to first, knocking DeForest and Milton down a spot each to second and third. Sturgeon-Bay/Sevastopol skyrocketed 10 spots to fourth, while Sauk Prairie remained at No. 5.

Another big leaper was Grafton, which entered the top 10 at seventh, five spots higher than last week.

Volleyball

All four No. 1 teams held their ground in the final Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association rankings before postseason play begins Tuesday for Divisions 2-4 and Thursday for Division 1.

Milwaukee Pius XI, Muskego, West Bend East, Menomonee Falls and Watertown maintained the top five spots in Division 1.

The top eight teams stayed in their spots in Division 2, with only Richland Center taking the ninth spot while knocking River Valley down one rung. The top five are Kettle Moraine Lutheran, Waukesha Catholic Memorial, Waupun, Appleton Xavier and Madison Edgewood.

In Division 3, the leading six positions saw no changes: Wisconsin Heights, Sheboygan Area Lutheran, Eau Claire Regis, Cuba City, Grantsburg and Manitowoc Lutheran, while Dodgeland zoomed up to No. 7 after being an honorable mention selection.

In D-4, Burlington Catholic Central led the field in which all 10 teams remained, although Potosi inched up to No. 2 while pushing Green Bay NEW Lutheran down to third.

Boys soccer

Milwaukee Marquette kept its season-long perch atop the Division 1 ratings, while Waukesha Catholic Memorial remained No. 1 in Division 2 in the final regular-season poll by the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association.

Marquette (15-2-1) is holding off Hartland Arrowhead (17-3-1) and Brookfield East (13-2-5) as teams prepare for regional tournament action that starts Thursday.

Catholic Memorial (14-3-3) held off Green Bay Notre Dame (18-3-2) and Shorewood (14-1-1).

Meanwhile, Division 3 has a new leader again. Kohler (20-2) jumped ahead of Racine St. Catherine’s (13-4-2).
